So many fun activities and sports for your family to participate in.

Girls Fall Basketball

Deadline approaching

Time is running out to secure your spot in the action-packed Fall Basketball program at the OC!


Practices begin in early October. Games begin in late October through mid-December. Games will be on weeknights with the exception of Wednesdays.


Deadline to register: Sept.14.

There's still time to join September group swim lessons!

Classes begin Sept. 9. They're offered on different days of the week for all levels of swimmers. Check out the website and pick the class that's right for your child!

Dance & Cheer

Calling all dance and cheer enthusiasts!

K-5th graders will learn pompom and cheering basics. All levels of experience are welcome.

Classes are Sept. 7 through Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

Gymnastics

Gymnastics starts soon!

Duration: 14 Weeks (Sept. 6 - Dec. 16)

$130 per session for annual members

$140 for non-annual members

There's still room in the Preschool group 9 and 10 a.m. classes on Saturdays,

and the 9:10 a.m. class on Wednesday.

Paws in the Pool


Get ready to dive into the fun with your furry friend! The 4th Annual Paws in the Pool is back and better than ever.

Join us on Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 5-7 P.M. at the Grubaugh Municipal Aquatics Facility for an evening of swimming and splashing with your best friend.

Archery is Back!


Classes take place in the early evening, starting at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., or 6 p.m. and last 45 minutes. Classes are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday starting on Sept. 18 and Sept. 25 at the 4H Building in Finley River Park.

Kids Day Off

K - 6th grades


Kids Day Out is provided when local school districts are not in session, for example when snow days are called. The program runs from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Kids will enjoy crafts and other fun activities.

Kids Night In

K - 6th grades


Kids are invited to hang with us at The OC for a night “in” while parents enjoy a night “out.”

We will have dinner, go swimming, enjoy some games, climb the rock wall, and have lots of fun.

Amidst vacations, weekend trips, and summer events, the SMCC staff are still chugging along, working on ten active projects, with seven additional business leads in our pipeline. With the new fiscal year fully underway, we are also closely examining our organization's annual goals to ensure another great year of growth and collaboration with our partners and investors.

Christian County: By the Numbers

At Show Me Christian County, we love numbers. Part of our job as economic developers it to keep a watchful eye on demographic, economic, and industry trends. Here's a few interesting numbers you may not be aware of:



  • The average wage earned in Christian County is $40,210, a rise of roughly 5.2% over the previous year.
  • Christian County's top three industries are retail, construction, and food services/accommodation. The retail industry alone employs over 3,300 workers across the county.
  • The unemployment rate in Christian County currently sits at about 2.4%. For comparison, the national unemployment rate is 3.4%, the lowest rate in 54 years.
