WHO WE ARE

Animal Welfare League was organized in 2008 and remains committed to helping homeless and needy animals in Washington County, Mississippi. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and are an all-volunteer organization. We are based in Greenville, Mississippi, sometimes referred to as "The Delta."

WHAT WE DO

Our focus is on reducing the overpopulation problem in Washington County by offering low-cost spay/neutering and providing a solution to the horrendous conditions faced daily in the present county shelter environment. The current facility is more than 50 years old and highly inadequate for the hundreds of dogs that are picked up annually by the Leland Animal Control. In the past several years, dogs have disappeared (i.e. stolen!), been tragically beaten to death and even frozen due to lack of heat.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

Animal Welfare League is dedicated to eliminating the crisis of homeless, mistreated, and abused animals in Washington County by providing shelter, rescue, foster homes, adoption, and low-cost spay/neuter services for the dogs and cats, by providing humane education to pet owners, and by working to improve laws to end animal cruelty.
