George Curtis Culkin Wrestling Promoter Interview 2001

Gil Culkin, My father, George Culkin, started wrestling in his teens, following in the footsteps of his older half-brother, Jack Curtis, Sr., and wrestled throughout the country in the 1940's and 50's. He was known in the ring mostly as George Curtis, being the younger brother of Jack, Sr. and teaming together as the "Curtis Brothers". He later began promoting towns throughout Mississippi, bringing in talent through Leroy McGuirk's promotion out of Oklahoma, and there began a historic run that included Mid-South, the UWF and ICW Promotions. When I first got involved in the wrestling business with my father, Mid-South Wrestling was HOT in Mississippi! There were many changes going on within the Promotions at that time, and some really big changes to come. This was a tremendous learning experience for me, and a win-win situation for the great wrestling fans in the South.
