Hero in Training event a success

Thank you to our community members who participated in the Hero in Training event hosted by the Ozark Police Department. With about 100 children in attendance, the event was a resounding success. The police department did an exceptional job organizing and executing the event, which included exciting activities such as drone and K9 unit demonstrations, crime scene investigation, fingerprinting analysis, and more.  The children had a great time and learned valuable insights into the world of law enforcement. We will see you again next year!

Ozark Fire Protection District

Pinning Ceremony Held

The Ozark Fire Protection District held a pinning ceremony at the August 15 Board of Directors meeting where ten members were recognized for their accomplishments.

"We are very proud of each of our member’s accomplishments. These members are the future of our organization, and the future looks amazing," said Asst. Chief Aaron Heaton.

Chief travels for education opportunities

Chief Jarett Metheny and Assistant Chief Aaron Heaton traveled to Kansas City for the 150th Anniversary conference of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.

Assistant Chief Jeff Owens traveled to Osage Beach for the Fire Marshals Association of Missouri annual conference. Each of these educational opportunities provided networking and educational advancement to improve the services the district delivers. All of the district staff have many certifications that require annual training and upkeep to remain certified.

Station #3 progressing toward completion before the end of 2023

If you get a chance to drive by, you’ll see the walls are complete, the windows are installed, and the drywall is getting finished up the interior. It won’t be too long until the fire district is able to return staffing to this essential area of the district.

Captain Derek Compton completed his Fire Officer Designation through the Center for Public Safety Excellence. Cpt.

Compton has been with the Ozark Fire Protection District since 2017.  Congratulation Cpt. Derek Compton, this is only the beginning.

This month it is Campus Fire Safety planning

With kids back to school, it's important for students to learn where the pull stations, fire extinguishers, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) are located and how to contact additional help if needed.

In college dorm rooms, candles, smoking, and unattended heating appliances are some of the top reasons that fires occur on college campuses. Taking those extra few moments to ensure nothing is left on or unattended can prevent a fire.
