Windy Ride to Rogersville: Battling Headwinds and Exploring Classic Cars

A Windy Ride to Rogersville: Battling Headwinds and Discovering Classic Cars

Hey everyone! Today was an adventure on two wheels, and I can’t wait to share it with you. The date is July 10th, 2024, and the wind was quite the character in my story today.

The Journey Begins

As I set out from Ozark, the wind was blowing from the west to the east, giving me a nice push towards Rogersville. The flag fluttering in the breeze was a clear sign that I was in for a fast ride. And boy, did I make good time! With the wind at my back, I felt like I was flying down the road.

The Return Trip

But, as all cyclists know, what the wind gives, it also takes away. The return trip was a different story. Heading back towards Ozark, I faced a challenging headwind. Some parts of the ride were crosswinds, but a lot of it was straight into the wind. It was a tough battle, but I kept my spirits high.

Data and Dreams

I’ve seen other cyclists with fancy data collectors that tell them what percentage of their ride was in a headwind. I don’t have that technology yet, but it’s definitely on my wish list. Knowing all your data helps you ride as efficiently as possible without burning out. Today’s ride was 30 miles in total – 15 miles to Rogersville and 15 miles back. My average speed was just under 15 miles per hour, and my cadence was almost a sustainable 75 RPM. My goal is to hit 80 RPM soon!

A Classic Encounter

On my way back, I had the pleasure of meeting a local car enthusiast with a beautifully restored '55 Ford. This classic car, with its 428 Cobra Jet engine, was a sight to behold. The owner shared stories about the car’s restoration, from its air ride system to its smooth, handle-less doors. It was a real treat to see such a well-maintained piece of automotive history.

A Quick Tip on Toothpaste

Before I wrap up, I want to share a quick tip about toothpaste. If you’re using toothpaste for yourself, your spouse, or your kids, make sure to research what’s in it. There’s growing evidence that fluoride in toothpaste can do more harm than good, especially for young children who might swallow it. Consider alternatives like brushing with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda, and always consult with a trusted dentist.

Final Thoughts

As I pedaled back into Ozark, I reflected on the day’s ride. The wind, the miles, the classic car – it all made for a memorable adventure. Remember, whether you’re cycling, restoring cars, or just brushing your teeth, always do your research and know what’s best for you.

Thanks for joining me on this ride. Stay tuned for more adventures, and as always, keep pedaling!
