Churchill Downs Inc.'s Harlow's Casino Resort & Hotel in Greenville, Miss., will close temporarily later this week because of rising water levels on the Mississippi River.

According to a news release, the facility will close Friday, May 6, at 10 p.m. CDT.

"The Board of Mississippi Levee Commissioners has declared a state of emergency due to expected flooding along the Mississippi River basin and has directed Harlow's and a number of other casinos near the river to close for business until further notice," the release said. "Harlow's will reopen as soon as authorized to do so by Mississippi state officials."

Harlow's is located on about 69 acres of leased land near the Mississippi River in Greenville, Miss. It has a 33,000-square foot gaming floor and a five-story, 105-room attached hotel.

Churchill Downs purchased the casino and hotel in December for $138 million.
