WHAT IS VIRIDIS /VI.RI.DIS/?
THE LITERAL TRANSLATION IN LATIN IS, “TO SPROUT, GREEN, YOUTHFUL AND LIVELY.” WHAT BETTER NAME FOR A COMPANY THAT DOES ALL OF THOSE THINGS ON 5% OF THE WATER OF CONVENTIONAL CROP PRODUCTION, ZERO RUNOFF, ORGANIC INPUTS, AND WITH NO CHEMICAL PESTICIDES.
OUR MODEL

This was a first attempt at a FEMA style stratified downdraft. It really is as simple as it looks, just a section of muffler pipe welded to and open to the metal barrel hopper above the keg. I lit the wood pellets directly in the hopper, let them burn updraft until nice and hot, them pulled a downdraft suction. After about 5 minutes, I plumbed the syngas right into a running gasoline generator, then shut off the gasoline. I played with fresh air restriction to get a air/fuel mixture that sounded right, and we made electricity for an hour. Now that I have proof of concept, I'll make some mods to cool and clean the syngas, and automate the hopper refill, and harvest the heat.
