Dear Resident,

It's been a busy season in Ozark, with exciting progress happening throughout our community! From street improvements and enhancements to our historic downtown to projects that strengthen our neighborhoods, we're continuing to invest in the places that make Ozark a great place to live, work and visit. I appreciate your patience as this important work continues and look forward to seeing these improvements take shape.

As we look ahead to the holiday season, there's plenty to celebrate in Ozark! We're excited to kick off the festivities with the Mayor's Tree Lighting at the Ozark Community Center, followed by the 61st annual Christmas Parade on the historic downtown square, one of our community's favorite holiday traditions. These special events bring families, friends and neighbors together and remind us of the wonderful community spirit we share.

This month, we also pause to honor our veterans and thank the brave men and women who have served our country. Their courage, sacrifice and commitment to protecting our freedoms deserve our gratitude every day.

As Thanksgiving approaches, I encourage everyone to take time to appreciate the people in their lives, support our local businesses and look for opportunities to give back.

On behalf of the City of Ozark, I wish you and your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

~Mayor Don Currence

Ozark Infrastructure Updates

Several street and infrastructure projects throughout Ozark have recently been completed or are progressing well. These improvements focus on upgrading essential utilities and making city streets safer and more accessible.

Robertson Street Project Complete

Improvements included water main upgrades, infrastructure upgrades and roadway improvements, strengthening essential city infrastructure and improving driving conditions. The project began with a new water main and dozens of new water connections installed. After the water improvements, crews built new sidewalks, curbs and gutters and completed stormwater improvements. The finishing touch was a newly repaved roadway.

Downtown Paver Project Nears Completion

Several areas along the square needed pavers replaced because tree root growth lifted them. Crews maintained the existing design when installing new pavers to preserve downtown's historic appearance and improve stormwater drainage and sidewalk accessibility. Select trees will be removed and replaced. The same thornless black honey locust variety is being used, and the new trees will receive treatment to help limit future root growth and sidewalk damage.

Fifth Street Project Progressing Well

Major improvements continue on 5th Street. Recently, crews installed a new water main and are nearing completion of removing the existing substandard street and subgrade. The road is also being prepared for the new roadbed. Crews hope to start on curb and gutter by the end of the week. Once that is complete, they will move on to paving the road. Timelines may have to be adjusted if weather or material delays pop up, but we are excited for the progress in this area.

North 22nd Street Project Hits Halfway Point

Work continues on North 22nd Street, with crews scheduled to complete the remaining concrete sidewalks, ADA ramps, and final grading over the next two weeks. Pavement milling has started and is expected to take approximately four days, followed by a new asphalt overlay.

Drivers should expect lane shifts and occasional flagging during milling and paving operations. Weather may affect the schedule.

These projects represent continued investment in Ozark's streets, utilities and pedestrian infrastructure. Thank you, residents and motorists, for your patience as crews work to complete these important community improvements!

In Case You Missed It

The Ozark Police Department and City of Ozark recently celebrated two remarkable career milestones, recognizing Police Chief Justin Arnold and Captain Derek Hill for a combined 41 years of service to Ozark.

Chief Arnold marked 21 years with the Ozark Police Department on September 25, 2026. During that time, he has witnessed Ozark's growth firsthand while helping lead a department that has grown alongside the community. Through the changes and challenges of more than two decades in law enforcement, his commitment to the people of Ozark and the officers who serve them has remained constant.

Just one day earlier, on September 24, Captain Hill marked his own milestone of 20 years of service with the department. Over the past two decades, he has become an instrumental part of OPD's leadership, bringing experience, dependability and a strong commitment to public safety to his role each day.

Congratulations to Chief Arnold and Captain Hill on these impressive milestones. We are grateful for the many years you have invested in Ozark and look forward to the impact you will continue to make in the years ahead.
