Ozark Mountain Family Restaurant, in Ozark Missouri

Ozark Mountain Family Restaurant, which will specialize in "down-home Southern cooking," says co-owner Brenda Guilliams.
The restaurant will have its grand opening March 1, she says.
The building has been vacant since a Shoney's restaurant closed six years ago, she tells me. It is visible from the highway at 780 N. 18th St., between a Rib Crib and a Taco Bell.

The interior has been extensively remodeled, she says.
"It does not even look like a Shoney's."
She is leasing the building. The interior has 6,426 square feet and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Her business partner is Phil Mills Jr., who has no restaurant experience, she says.
Mills is from Auxvasse, a small town south of Mexico, Missouri, but lives in Georgia. He will spend limited time at the restaurant.

He has one main qualification for the restaurant biz, she tells me.
"He likes to eat ... He has eaten my cooking before and knew what kind of pies I can make."
Mills and Guilliams initially met on Facebook.
"We are just two of the best friends," she says.
