Issue 78| August 2023 City News McCracken Road being prepared for asphalt Contractor crews are currently working on the excavation of McCracken Road for the construction of a trail, asphalt road, and a concrete deck pour.  Latest update Garrison Springs project moving forward Exciting news from the City of Ozark Environmental Division! Work has started on the Garrison Springs culvert project. As crews begin work on-site, safety is of the utmost concern, so to minimize foot and vehicular traffic, additional barricades and fencing will be installed. More details Indoor aquatic facility to reopen Aug. 10 The new Dectron unit was successfully installed and the indoor pool has been freshly painted. The Ozark Community Center is getting closer and closer to filling the pool and reopening it to the community. Read more ... Watch the installation below: Pardon Our Progress Public Works Department Project Oak St. & West Downtown The City of Ozark Public Works is happy to report that the water main improvements have been completed, while the sewer main improvements are now at an impressive 85% completion. OPD 2023 Citizen's Academy The Ozark Police Department is holding its 8th Annual Citizens Police Academy starting Aug. 22. Sessions will cover topics such as your rights and use of force, you will learn about the department's canine officers and participate in a ride-along and shooting training. The City of Ozark requires all dogs residing in Ozark City limits to be registered, which serves as official proof of ownership and will provide a unique identification number or tag that can be used to locate you as the owner if your dog gets lost or goes missing. Ozark Fire Protection District Progress continues on Fire Station #3 The North walls of Fire Station #3 on Highway W have been extended to accommodate a new gym facility, equipment room, and maintenance area. The insulation is in and wall coverings are being installed. The re-opening of this station will culminate many months of hard work and coordinated efforts toward placing staffing back into the station. Stay tuned for continuous updates.  District hires four new members, promotes two Firefighters Mitch Beary and Dustin Cutbirth successfully passed an in-depth process leading to their promotion to the position of Engineer. An Engineer drives and operates all apparatus and equipment from ladder trucks to the saws and fans stored in their bellies. Engineers work closely with their assigned Company Officer to assist with crew development and act as the step-up or out-of-title officer during the Company officer's absence. Both Mitch and Dustin are skilled operators currently and we are excited to see them grow within this career. The district welcomes Firefighters Ryan Rush, Jesse Gearhart, Matthew Dilday, and F.F. intern Braden Loehr. After an extensive vetting and interview process, they rose to the top of the candidate pool and earned their place with the Ozark Fire Protection District.  "We are happy to bring them aboard and make them members of our family," said Asst. Fire Chief Aaron Heaton. They will complete a 2-week onboarding process that introduces them to the district operations and prepares them for service. Then, they will each be assigned to a specific crew that will help them develop a high level of competency over their next 12-month probationary period.
