Jesus said that we should love others as ourselves. In Truth….there are no “others”. In spirit we are One.
In the physical realm where we appear to be separated there is the temptation to treat others different than ourselves. We may think we are lying, stealing or cheating others…but since there are no “others” we are actually doing it to ourselves.
The consequences of our actions come back to haunt us at a later time - Karma.
Example: You cheat on your partner, they break up with you and you get into a new relationship where they cheat on you. You steal something from the store and later lose your wallet with the money in it. You cut someone off in traffic and your boss does not give you the promised promotion. You judge someone on the street for being overweight and later find yourself being judged for some reason by others.
There are no “others”. Every action, thought and word we send out comes back to us…good or bad. There is nothing, absolute nothing we “get away with”….for every hair is counted for and no stone will be left unturned.
That is why Jesus said to do onto others as you want them to do unto you. This was not a “be nice” suggestion…but a warning for our own good.
