Bhakti Bliss 2013 - A Secret Sanctuary Gathering & Retreat
All Bhakti.... All Bliss
ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं । भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥
Kirtan is the chanting of sacred sounds and devotional songs, originating from the yogic tradition of ancient India. These Sanskrit mantras are known to have great power and can promote deep states of tranquility, inner peace and bliss. These powers and benefits become multiplied when we sing these mantras together in a group.
Kirtan is the practice of Bhakti yoga, the path of devotion and the yoga of the heart. Bhakti yoga is considered the easiest yogic path to master and the most direct method to experience the unity of mind, body and spirit. Bhakti yoga can be practiced by itself or be integrated into other types of yoga or spiritual practices. (from the front cover of the Sangita Devi songbook)

Did we mention KIRTAN?
Dave Stringer has been widely profiled in publications all over the world as one of the most innovative artists of the new Kirtan movement. Stringer’s sound marries the transcendent mysticism of traditional Indian instruments with the exuberant, groove-oriented sensibility of American gospel.
Initially trained as a visual artist, filmmaker and jazz musician, Stringer’s work underwent a significant shift when video editing work brought him to an ashram in Ganeshpuri, India in 1990. It has also been informed by a subsequent period of service teaching meditation to prison inmates, and expanded by his interest and research in neuroscience.
An articulate and engaging public speaker, Stringer probes the dilemmas of the spirit with a wry and unorthodox sense of humor. His work intends to create a modern and participatory theatrical experience out of the ancient traditions of kirtan and yoga, open to a multiplicity of interpretations, and accessible to all.
Sangita Devi is a kirtan group based out of Asheville, North Carolina that includes Samata, Noah, Victoria and Taylor. We often feature other excellent Asheville musicians in our weekly kirtan. We share devotional music and teach workshops both nationally and locally.
OSEL is a band based in Asheville, North Carolina created by Michael & Stephanie Johnson with the intention of sharing their love of music and kirtan. Original music, creative rhythm, traditional Sanksrit mantra and poetry blended with original English lyrics, OSEL regularly performs in their hometown of Asheville and frequently travels to play at venues across the country. OSEL also collaborates with other musicians such as Noah Rouse Wilson IV (from Sangita Dev), Alvin Young (from Sean Johnson and the Wild Lotus Band), Raven Tenderfoot, Mira Shani and Jarret Levine.
Namanada is the acoustical Bhakti side project of A Ghost Like Me.http://aghostlikeme.com/
I,Star's music is best described as folk-hop, the synthesis of Aradhana's singer/songwriter essence and Truth-I's lyrical flow, blending reggae, funk, and alternative sounds with stellar musicianship.
