Part of the Role for the two-legged beside whom Red Tailed Hawk flies is that of Guardian of the Earth Mother. These are individuals who will possess an astute awareness of the concept of the interconnectedness of all things, and will have an inner reverence for all life.
These are the souls that are involved in making the world a better place, whether locally or globally. They will be protectors of the Earth Mother and tread softly upon her, encouraging and educating ~Others~ to do the same.
Often, they are either found initiating or actively involved in environmental causes, where their keen perception and insight will serve their chosen ~cause~ well. Yet it is their day to day existence and fundamental philosophy/foundation of action and belief, that distinguishes these individuals as true champions of Mother Earth as they seek to live in harmony with the ~Ina Maka~ and all that She births, provides, nurtures and sustains. http://wolfs_moon.tripod.com/RedHawkTotem.html
I decided to look up the symbolism of the red tailed hawk after about two months of coming across them while biking. I've seen them about ten times now, one of which had torn a rabbit in half and was sitting in our front yard. At that point I felt it was more than pure coincidence and had to figure out what it meant...so there it is.
11/4/07 Just updating this post with a little more hawk symbolism after writing "Complacency" earlier today.
The red tail of the hawk only appears when the bird reaches maturity. When looking to the human beside whom Red Hawk flies, this is quite significant, for it indicates that the Red Feathers are not easily given, and must instead be earned over time. Hence, the symbolism of the Red Tail Feathers emerging only with age and experience. For the two-legged with this Animal Totem, this indicates the need to approach spiritual awakening in a gradual, careful and conscious manner. Yet once this fundamental energy unfurls as the Red Tail Feathers emerge, the beauty and depth of Spirit that shines brilliantly forth, will be both inspiration and guidance for Others who may be just beginning, or in the process of, their own awakening. Be ever alert for a red tail flying near, for the Red Tailed Hawk will soar beside the Two-Legged whose own gift of vision is exceptionally acute. To accept this Totem, is to be knighted as a Guardian and Protector of the Earth Mother and all her Children. These are individuals who will possess an astute awareness of the interconnectedness of all things, and will have an inner reverence for all life. These are the souls that are involved in making the world a better place. They will be protectors of the Earth, encouraging and educating Others to do the same.
Talking about Human Circles, could this why the NPS is afraid of Circles?
Watch this video to could be true.
"The Moment represents an international gathering of people of all faiths, cultures, races, and backgrounds who will take a step toward recovering the collective soul of all mankind. This collegial effort based in our mutual faith in God as the individual knows the Creator, together in prayer, worship, ceremony, and fellowship represents many of the ideals curative and pastoral we work to achieve." - Rev. Dr. Fred Wilcoxson, Manataka, College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy quoted from :
www.momenthotsprings.com
The vision for The Moment on October 20, 2012 has always been to gather all beliefs in unity for a common intent of Peace for mankind. We need this as foreign leaders clamor battle swords and politicians spin campaign slogans. It is We The People who create the country we want to live in. It is We The People who create our neighborhoods, parks and civil servants. It is We the People who want to gather for Peace; sing, drum, and hold hands on National Park Services ground that was, at one time in history, All People's land for a place of Peaceful gathering.
The permitting process has been severely hampered in an internal NPS attempt to limit, bar, or prevent The Moment from creating cohesion for people coming from all over the globe to pray for peace. In someone's mind at the NPS, The Moment,LLC and the event by that name, is considered a "protest".
Protest of what?! Is there something hidden that We The People should be protesting? I am not aware of anything or such alleged protest. Many conversations have been had with the organizers of this event and never had the word "protest" crossed their lips, till the NPS did so themselves.
"The Moment" IS going forward. People who hold the Love of Divine within, feel the connection of humanity for a Shift and join in solidarity to peace and freedom; will sovereignly take their own path up the mountain, along streams, trails and parks to speak their Sacred Intentions for Peace.
Peace Be With You National Park Service directors, rangers and employees. Peace Be With You Light Workers coming to this event. Peace Be With You Rainbow Warriors, intercessors and matrix changers. We love you, thank you, please forgive us, we are sorry. Ho'oponopono to your light within. JaiJai Maa.

Josie Fernandez, superintendant of the Hot Springs National Park Service has placed several barriers in the path of religious freedom and our First Amendment rights by constructing permits that we cannot in good conscience abide. Fernandez arbitrarily decided that no religious sacraments could be offered by any person of religious faith and no person could stand for more than five minutes and offer prayer and song during the MOMENT. The signed First Amendment permit limits participation to 20-40 people in early morning hours only. A second unsigned permit contains many other oppressive conditions.
As it stands at this time, the event will not be cancelled as a result of the actions of Josie Fernandez, but certain elements of the exact route are now subject to change. All participants are directed to go to the Train Depot / Farmer's Market as originally planned.
The MOMENT leadership filed a new application on September 27 for a First Amendment activity on the sacred mountain. The Hot Springs National Park Service has a limited amount of time to respond to our request for a First Amendment Permit.
We apologize to everyone who registered to participate but did not received a response from the MOMENT. Our emails and other forms of communication were blocked or redirected. Please direct your comments to your legislators.
The event will bring together people of all religions and races with a common goal of creating a holy vibration and a light that will raise the consciousness of the planet.

JOINING HANDS, HEARTS AND MINDS
Hot Springs, Arkansas – On October 20, 2012, thousands of peple join hands, hearts and minds around the base of Manataka (Hot Springs Mountain) Mountain in Hot Springs National Park. The event, planned by The Moment, LLC, which included members of several Hot Springs churches and spiritual centers, will bring together people of all religions and races with a common goal of peace and healing for our planet.
Every church in Hot Springs is being invited to participate in this global prayer event, as well as churches and religious communities from around the world. A special effort is also being made to invite indigenous communities across America. Many have already confirmed their attendance. Some people are traveling from as far away as Norway and South Africa.
The event will take place on and around Hot Springs Mountain, long known as a Native American sacred site called Manataka or Place of Peace. This area was a gathering place for indigenous nations for thousands of years prior to the explorations conducted by the Spanish and the French. Many tribes told stories of this strange place called ‘the Place of Peace’ in their own languages. This was a place acknowledged as important to all people and all people were allowed to travel there for their physical and spiritual needs without fear of enemy interference.
All events associated with the Moment are free and open to the public. Before and after the Moment of joined hearts, there will be many events in the downtown Hot Springs area. Spiritual leaders from various faiths will be present prior to The Moment for meditation and prayer. A sunrise service with a procession up the Mountain is planned for 5:30 am. Afterward, an Eco Teepee Village with live music and interactive displays will provide a time of celebration and interest for the entire family. All events are free and open to the public.
If you plan to attend The Moment, you are encouraged to register for this free event at www.momenthotsprings.com. Your registration will allow organizers to assign you and your group a color designating your place the Rainbow around the Mountain. Color assignments are intended to provide the easiest access to the 7.5 mile circle of participants.
The web site and Facebook pages “The Moment LLC” and “The Moment Sponsored by the World Drum Project” will be continually updated with the latest news concerning this “can’t miss” event.

The Moment: October 20 in Hot Springs, Arkansas
THE MOMENT, LLC has announced plans for a spiritual
event in Hot Springs, Arkansas October 20, 2012. This event will attract
the attention of people from around the globe to join hands, hearts and
minds, either in their own communities or on site at Hot Springs
Mountain.
The event will bring together people of all religions and races with a
common goal of creating a holy vibration and a light that will raise
the consciousness of the planet.
According to the Reverend Tom Haley, every church in Hot Springs will
be invited to participate in this global prayer event. Reverend Haley
is minister of Rock Hill Christian Church, and co-founder of The Moment,
LLC. Reverend Haley has authored several books, including Anchor in the
Storm and Prayers with Wings.
“It will be a planetary Pentecost”, says Reverend David Hulse, DD,
co-founder of The Moment, LLC. Reverend Hulse is also the founder of The
RISE Wellness Center, a Hot Springs organization. Reverend Hulse has
studied the human vibration for two decades and has an extensive
speaking and teaching schedule.
“A critical mass is needed to create a change in the consciousness of
the 7 billion people on the planet,” explained Rev. Hulse. “It does not
matter if the people are present, only that they are focused on the
intention and praying with us.
The site, Hot Springs Mountain, was selected as a known First Nations
sacred site. “We know that a prophesy was revealed on the Sacred
Mountain concerning the joining hands of a rainbow circle to create a
new peace on the planet,” explains Lee “Standing Bear” Moore, Secretary
for Manataka American Indian Council, one of the sponsors for the event.
“We felt that this sacred site would be perfect for our intentions,” says Rev. Haley.
To keep up with the progress of The Moment, LLC project, look for The
Moment, LLC on Facebook. A web site will be available for registration
for this free event before the end of July.
The Story of “The Moment”
An event called “the Moment” that is planned for October 20, 2012 had its beginning in the story that follows:
One year ago, in June 2011, the secretary of Manataka American Indian
Council (Lee “Standing Bear” Moore) was visited by Father Bruno Ruel of
St Mary’s Catholic Church and Father Stephane Gamache, who represents
an order of the Catholic Church in Canada. They came to visit on behalf
of the Holy Mother Paul-Marie in Canada who had a dream about a Place of
Peace. Her dream caused her much concern because she did not know the
location of this place. Fr Bruno may have been the one who thought the
place was the sacred mountain that native people know as the Place of
Peace in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Their meeting is described in the
transcript of the letter below. About a month later, Fr Stephane sent a
letter written in French (translated into English) by Mother Paul-Marie
to “Bear.”
After reading the letter, Bear had other contacts with the
two priests and others from the Catholic Church to talk about the letter
and its meaning for Manataka.
Bear wrote this response recently to Mother Paul-Marie [quoted in part]:
The time has arrived to respond to your beautiful message about the
“Place of Peace” sent to Fr. Stephane on July 8, 2011 and shared with us
by Fr. Bruno.
It may have been obvious to you and others of the church that we were
surprised by your message. It was not the first time we received a
message stating that Manataka (Unbroken Circle – Place of Peace) is
“predestined in divine” ways. Manataka is considered a sacred site by
millions of people.
Manataka is a sacred site where the presence of God was witnessed
many times over the course of thousands of years. Stories of miracles,
great lessons of life, and workings of the Holy Spirit at Manataka all
came to shape the course of indigenous lives across North, Central and
South America. The light of the holy mountain still resides here.
We were surprised because it was the first time in our history a
Christian church recognized Manataka as a sacred site. Your message was
the first indication ever received that non-indigenous people accepted
the Holy Mother of the Mountain, Lady of the Rainbow as the same “Lady
of all Peoples.” The Rainbow Woman is our guide to wisdom and awakened
consciousness. The great feminine energy of our Holy Mother gave us the
Secrets of Life and created the laws of peace. Therefore, you honored
the Mother by recognizing our faith in her.
You graciously and correctly called the crystal we gifted “…the
symbol of a providential and divine link that connects the Lady of all
Peoples – the Lady of the Rainbow…”
During the time of the visit by your ambassadors, we learned of your
dream about the Place of Peace, also experienced by three other Sisters
of your church. This is the dream we heard: “A Light will be born at the
Place of Peace that will grow and spread to many lands.”
Fr Bruno and Fr Stephane later said they did not tell Bear of your
dream during our meeting. This is impossible we thought. Of course they
told Bear about your dream! How else would Bear have known it? Your
dream was the reason we immediately stood up and picked up the Crystal
from the window sill and handed it to Fr Stephane to give to you. The
priests must have told Bear about your dream. There is no other way we
could have heard it. Yet, they both said on the telephone neither of
them told Bear about your dream. Because of the dream, we instantly had a
knowing that you and others of your following would keep this crystal
sacred artifact in a good way and use it when the Creator of All Things
so moved. Your dream was the reason for the gift.
We have come to understand that both priests were telling the truth
that neither priest told Bear about your dream during the meeting. It
was only later that we understood it must have been your spirit who told
Bear through their presence.
Some weeks after receiving a translated copy of your written message,
Bear stood outside our home and prayed. We gazed into the heavens
through the moonlit tree tops and we felt a presence come to our side
and felt a powerful spirit whisper to us. No words were heard, but our
troubled mind and heart were soothed by a gentle womanly presence. This
was the second time we felt your spirit come to Bear.
Weeks later we were led to sit by a sacred fire for seven days and
seven nights. Among several other guests, Fr Bruno and two sisters from
St. Mary’s attended one evening and he returned another night to sit the
fire for several hours. We were told by spirit not to conduct any
formal ceremonies, but to be at rest and open to our heavenly Mother and
Father. It was during that week when a new path was given – a new
direction for all of Manataka.”
This ends the excerpts from Bear’s letter to the Holy Mother. Many
other communications were received by Bear and other elders who sit on
the council that talked about the sacredness of Manataka – some even
talking about the need for a gathering of nations and religions at that
sacred place. The visit of Fr Bruno and Fr Stephane to Bear was the
genesis for what is a work in progress. It has become for Manataka American Indian Council a journey of faith.

World Drum Scheduled for
“Moment” Event in Hot Springs
Hot Springs, Arkansas – Several thousand people from around the globe are expected to arrive
in Hot Springs
on October 20, 2012 for a massive prayer event being called “The
Moment”. One of these people will be Morten Storeide of Norway
who has been responsible for making the World Drum Project a reality.
The
World Drum Project started as a vision of a drum that would travel around the
planet passed from hand to hand via grassroots support. This drum was intended
to be a ‘wake-up’ call for the people of Earth, to resound with a
healing vibration wherever it traveled. This was the vision of a Shaman called
White Cougar. When Mr. Storeide heard of this vision he said “This is
it, this is my task, we are going to make this happen.” A Shaman named
Birger Mikkelsen was contacted to create this special drum.
The
World Drum has now traveled around the globe 6 times. And on October 20, just
one day before it’s 6th anniversary, it will be in Hot Springs, Arkansas
for The Moment event. When Morten Storeide learned of the event, which will
take place at the renowned Hot
Springs Mountain,
a Native American sacred site, he felt that he and the Drum ‘must’
be there, since one of the main purposes of The World Drum is to Unite.
The vision of The Moment is bring people together from all
over the planet to join hands, hearts and minds, in prayer for healing,
according to Moment organizer Rev. David Hulse, co-founder of The Moment, LLC.
“The World Drum has been joining people in prayer all over the planet for
the past six years,” says Hulse. “It will be an honor to have this
wonderful drum to sing with us at the Moment.”
Rev. Tom Haley, also co-founder of The Moment, LLC, states
“Peace is within our reach.” The World drum has been uniting people of all races, creeds, colors, tribes, cultures, religions and
social situations and it’s vibration will assist us to come together as
one people, spiritually and peacefully, to meet each other as one family of
humanity, he continued.
The drum is the heartbeat of Mother Earth, explains Lee
“Standing Bear” Moore,
of the Manataka American Indian Council. It is this heartbeat that unites us
all, continues Moore.
“When we stand upon the Mountain in fulfillment of prophecy, the drum
will guide us to our hearts where Spirit will unite us all,” he said.
The Moment is the
fulfillment of Indian prophesies when the people of all races come together in
love in a single circle, give thanks and pray. “The Moment will create a
mass consciousness, a light that will spread to many lands,” says Moore.
All
events associated with the Moment are free and open to the public. “We
want to join hands, hearts and minds with you on the sacred mountain. Every
person on this planet is a special agent of the divine,” says Rev. Tom
Haley, “and we want to meet you there, heart to heart.”

INTRODUCTION
The Rainbow held special significance among the people of the land. Prophesies and stories of many nations, from the Hopi and Zuni in the Southwest to the Cherokee in the Southeast, from the Cree in the far north, the great Sioux nations of the plains, to the Mayan people of the far south, the Rainbow was a focal point of spiritual belief.
The rainbow was a sign of the omnipotent grace of the Great Mystery. It was by grace, freely given, unmerited favor and love of the Creator that allowed our people to walk this earth in respect for thousands of years barely leaving a footprint. It was also a focal point and great sign of the Place of Peace, Manataka. For the Creator chose Manataka to display this beautiful phenomena of nature in a spectacular and unique way. Read "The Story of Manataka"
The rainbows of Manataka were tended by the Rainbow Woman who kept a watchful eye on the peace of the valley. She kept the secrets of the Crystal Cave and presided over the Great Peace Council for thousands of years.
The Rainbow Woman and the beautiful rainbows of Manataka disappeared to live deep within the sacred mountain when our Circle was broken by invasion and destruction by a people who did not understand the beauty and grace of our sacred places.
We are not angry about the extreme ill-treatment of our people and the land at the hands of these greedy and fearful people - because we understand the fulfillment of the rainbow prophesies is coming to light and "..all things that were, will be again…" Read "Standing Bear Speaks"
The following prophesies and stories will help you to understand the importance of the Rainbows of Manataka and the meaning of the term, Rainbow Warrior.
CREE PROPHECY
Warriors of the Rainbow
Last century an old wise woman of the Cree Indian nation, named "Eyes of Fire", had a vision of the future. She prophesied that one day, because of the white mans' or Yo-ne-gis' greed, there would come a time, when the earth being ravaged and polluted, the forests being destroyed, the birds would fall from the air, the waters would be blackened, the fish being poisoned in the streams, and the trees would no longer be, mankind as we would know it would all but cease to exist. There would come a time when the "keepers of the legend, stories, culture rituals, and myths, and all the Ancient Tribal Customs" would be needed to restore us to health, making the earth green again. They would be mankind's key to survival, they were the "Warriors of the Rainbow". There would come a day of awakening when all the peoples of all the tribes would form a New World of Justice, Peace, Freedom and recognition of the Great Spirit.
The "Warriors of the Rainbow" would spread these messages and teach all peoples of the Earth or "Elohi". They would teach them how to live the "Way of the Great Spirit". They would tell them of how the world today has turned away from the Great Spirit and that is why our Earth is "Sick".
The "Warriors of the Rainbow" would show the peoples that this "Ancient Being" (the Great Spirit), is full of love and understanding, and teach them how to make the "Earth or Elohi" beautiful again. These Warriors would give the people principles or rules to follow to make their path light with the world. These principles would be those of the Ancient Tribes. The Warriors of the Rainbow would teach the people of the ancient practices of Unity, Love and Understanding. They would teach of Harmony among people in all four corners of the Earth.
Like the Ancient Tribes, they would teach the peoples how to pray to the Great Spirit with love that flows like the beautiful mountain stream, and flows along the path to the ocean of life. Once again, they would be able to feel joy in solitude and in councils. They would be free of petty jealousies and love all mankind as their brothers, regardless of color, race or religion. They would feel happiness enter their hearts, and become as one with the entire human race. Their hearts would be pure and radiate warmth, understanding and respect for all mankind, Nature and the Great Spirit.
They would once again fill their minds, hearts, souls, and deeds with the purest of thoughts. They would seek the beauty of the Master of Life - the Great Spirit! They would find strength and beauty in prayer and the solitude of life.
Their children would once again be able to run free and enjoy the treasures of Nature and Mother Earth. Free from the fears of toxins and destruction, wrought by the Yo-ne-gi and his practices of greed. The rivers would again run clear, the forests be abundant and beautiful, the animals and birds would be replenished. The powers of the plants and animals would again be respected and conservation of all that is beautiful would become a way of life.
The poor, sick and needy would be cared for by their brothers and sisters of the Earth. These practices would again become a part of their daily lives.
The leaders of the people would be chosen in the old way - not by their political party, or who could speak the loudest, boast the most, or by name calling or mud slinging, but by those whose actions spoke the loudest. Those who demonstrated their love, wisdom and courage and those who showed that they could and did work for the good of all, would be chosen as the leaders or Chiefs. They would be chosen by their "quality" and not the amount of money they had obtained. Like the thoughtful and devoted "Ancient Chiefs", they would understand the people with love, and see that their young were educated with the love and wisdom of their surroundings. They would show them that miracles can be accomplished to heal this world of its ills, and restore it to health and beauty.
The tasks of these "Warriors of the Rainbow" are many and great. There will be terrifying mountains of ignorance to conquer and they shall find prejudice and hatred. They must be dedicated, unwavering in their strength, and strong of heart. They will find willing hearts and minds that will follow them on this road of returning "Mother Earth" to beauty and plenty - once more.
The day will come, it is not far away.
The day that we shall see how we owe our very existence to the people of all tribes that have maintained their culture and heritage. Those that have kept the rituals, stories, legends and myths alive. It will be with this knowledge, the knowledge that they have preserved, that we shall once again return to "harmony" with Nature, Mother Earth and mankind. It will be with this knowledge that we shall find our "Key to our Survival".
CHEROKEE STORY
Lelanie Fuller Stone "The Cherokee Lady", relates the story that her grandmother told her when she was a young girl:
Do you know what a rainbow is ??
Yes, a beautiful bow of colors in the sky.
Do you know what a warrior is ??
A warrior is a brave person.
One who has courage instead of being afraid.
Now let me ask you a question.
Do you love animals or hate animals?
Do you love trees or hate trees?
Do you love people or hate people?
Do you love the rainbow or hate the rainbow?
Well, if you love animals and trees, people and
rainbows, then maybe you are a
"Warrior of the Rainbow"
HOPI PROPHESY
"When the earth is dying there shall arise a new tribe of all colours and all creeds. This tribe shall be called The Warriors of the Rainbow and it will put its faith in actions not words."
SIOUX PROPHESY
"There will come a time when the earth is sick and the animals and plants begin to die. Then the Indians will regain their spirit and gather people of all nations, colors and beliefs to join together in the fight to save the Earth:
The Rainbow Warriors."
RAINBOW TRIBE
The sun rose on a magical new day...
Over the whole earth they came,
The people of every colour,
Sister, Brother, Father, Mother
Traveling over many a land
People of the Rainbow
Children of the Way,
with a fresh glow
Finding their way
Star within...
More and more joined,
a song for the soul...
A new way to live,
A new way to see,
It happened this way...
And a new song,
It came from within
If you can find the Star,
Within then you will find...
What is... What was...
And what will be... you see,
It happened this way...
from within,
The people of the Way
The Rainbow Tribe...

RAINBOW MAN
THE INDALO SYMBOL
HISTORY of INDALO
SPAIN
The Indalo is a prehistoric symbol found in the "Cave of the Signboard" (La Cueva de Los Letreros) located in the northern province of Almeria, Spain. The Cave of the Signboards is located in area known as Maimón, in the town of Vélez Blanco known for it's picturesque cliffs and rock shelters. The province of Almeria is known as the paradise of La Paz (Peace) and beauty.
The Indalo pictograph shows a human with arms stretched above his head holding the arc of a rainbow. Other pictures show men, women, goats, deer and symbols covering the walls of this ancient cave. The pictures show activities of the ancient people who occupied this area of southeastern coastal area of Spain around 4,500 B.C.
(source: University of Leuven, Belgium)
The Cave of the Signboard was designated a National Historical Monument in 1924 and more recently nominated as Patrimonio de la Humanidad (Patrimonium of Humanity).
Though the Indalo was first 'officially' discovered in Spain sometime before 1868 by Antonio Góngora y Martinez, the people of Mojácar have used the ancient Indalo symbol for hundreds of years. Travelers through the area called the symbol "Mojaquero Man", because it was painted in white lime on houses of the town. The people thought the Indalo symbol is a sign of good luck.
Some archaeologists say the Indalo symbol is a representation of a prehistoric God. Others say the pictograph that holds the rainbow between open arms is representative of God's promise to humans that the world would not be destroyed by water (Génesis 9-13). We favor a third more plausible interpretation which says the symbol is a message of the star people and represents the Creator's grace.
The pictograph was named in memory San Indalecio, and means Indal eccius (Messenger of the Gods) in the Ibero language.
In the present village of Mojácar, people paint the symbol with red ocher on houses and over doorways to protect them from storms, lightening and the 'evil eye', while spiritual workers, Los Taumaturgos (miracle-workers), tell people the symbol has a good energy field surrounding the symbol and it will extend life.
Other indigenous civilizations, such as Hawaiian Islanders and American Indians, assigned similar meanings to the same type of symbols as the Indalgo drawing.
ANCIENT HAWAIIAN PETROGLYPHS
The "Anuenue Wahine" (Rainbow Woman) is found in several locations and many styles. The open torso suggests the womb and birth canal. The arch over her head represents a rainbow which means she is an honored and respected woman. She is also known as the wise woman or the woman who sees all. Even though the kapu system rigidly divided the roles of men and women, many women held active positions in the ali'i and many were highly respected kahuna.
Rock carvings found throughout the Hawaiian Islands represent the lifestyles and belief systems of its ancient island occupants.
The "Anuenue Kane" (Rainbow Man) is one of the best known among the all the Hawaiian petroglyphs. The Rainbow Man has a closed waistline denoting a male figure. The Rainbow Man has the same significance of honored status as Rainbow Woman. Most modern interpretations see him as a warrior. The rainbow man has a closed waistline denoting a male figure. The rainbow has the same significance of honored status. Most modern interpretations see him as a warrior.
Found at Nuuanu, Oahu, the "Rainbow Man" depicts a man with rainbow resting on his shoulders. The symbol represents each person's responsibility to 'shoulder' the task of protecting Mother Earth, the land "Ania."
The arc of the rainbow also means the person is honorable and respected.
Today, Hawaiian craft people frequently use the symbol of the Rainbow Woman and Rainbow Man in their work found in market places throughout the Hawaiian Islands.
AMERICAN INDIAN ANCIENT PROPHESY
A day will come when the animals, winged ones and those who swim will begin to disappear. The eagle, bear, wolf and buffalo will be scarce because people will become greedy and will not love each other. The sky will become black and the trees and plants will die. The beautiful rainbow will disappear because people will not remember to keep the Mother Earth sacred and will destroy its beauty.
Children of the Rainbow Warriors will come before all destroyed and they will love the trees and the animals. They will love and respect each other and they will help people to live in peace with all creation. The rainbow in the sky will return as a sign of the Creator's grace.
ZUNI LEGEND OF THE RAINBOW WARRIOR
This is a symbol known to the Zuni Indians as Rainbow Man. It was found on a Zuni war shield, a symbol of protection.
This are many similarities in this version of the Rainbow Man. The outstretched arms, stance of the legs, and the "Bow of Sky Rainbow above.

“Moment” Organizers Choose Native Sacred Site in Hot Springs
Hot Springs, Arkansas – On October 20, 2012, several thousand pilgrims
are expected to arrive in Hot Springs for a massive prayer event being
called “The Moment”. Called a “Planetary Pentecost” by Rev. David
Hulse, founder of the RISE Wellness Center, Hot Springs, this event is
expected to draw global attention and attendance.
The event
will take place on and around Hot Springs Mountain, long known as a
Native American sacred site called Manataka or Place of Peace. The area
known as Manataka encompasses Hot Springs Mountain, Indian Mountain and
West Mountain, referred to as the Three Sisters by First Nations People.
This area was a gathering place for indigenous nations for thousands
of years prior to the explorations conducted by the Spanish and the
French. The area was heavily mined for novaculite, a stone which could
be shaped into a very hard sharp edge for spear tips and cutting tools.
But it is Hot Springs Mountain that is most associated with the
Place of Peace. Although it is hard to imagine today with the bath
houses and tourist shops on the west side of the mountain, prehistoric
peoples and early explorers beheld a place of wonder here. Hot water
issued forth from over 50 springs down the side of the mountain from as
high as 187 feet. The springs were surrounded by mounds created by the
mineral deposits from the springs. These white mounds were streaked
with red iron oxide. The overall exotic landscape caused one writer to
think mistakenly that the area had volcanic activity.
These
springs were known for their healing and rejuvenating properties
throughout the Americas. It was a strange and foreboding place, rich in
flora and fauna. This was considered a sacred place, a place given
special attention by Creator. Many tribes told stories of this strange
place called ‘the Place of Peace’ in their own languages. This was a
place acknowledged as important to all people and all people were
allowed to travel there for their physical and spiritual needs without
fear of enemy interference. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
